Taking place Saturday, Feb 19 2011 7AM-3PM (Central Time)
This is a notification that our online business partners will be making a major infrastructure upgrade, which involves moving all web sites and application infrastructure from the legacy Asia-Pacific data center onto a new Asia-Pacific data center. They will also need to reconfigure servers, perform database synchronization tasks and restart the system.
• Maintenance Start Time: Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 7:00AM Central Time Zone
• Maintenance End Time: Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 3:00PM Central Time Zone
• Duration: There is a scheduled maintenance window of 8 hours, during which all sites hosted on the existing Asia-Pacific data center will be unavailable. All sites hosted on the United States and European Data Centers will be online but will have limited Administrative Console functionality (see below). Once the migration is completed, all sites in all data centers will be fully functional including Admin Console access and website frontend without any intervention from you for 60 days. This does not include FTP access.
Action May Be Required From You
If the domain for your site has been redelegated to Infusion, and is using our namservers (ns01.infusioncorp.com, ns02.infusioncorp.com) you will NOT need to make any updates or take any additional action. Updates will be made automatically during the migration.
If the domain settings for your site are hosted externally on a domain registrar, you will need to follow these instructions to change your DNS settings to point to the new datacenter (IP address is 202.176.14.137). After the migration is complete you will have 60 days to make required changes to your DNS settings to keep your site running in the long term and re-enable FTP access. You will receive a notification indicating when it is safe to start making the changes after the maintenance is successful. Do not make any changes to your DNS until you receive a notification to do so.
How do I know if my site is hosted on the legacy Asia-Pacific data center?
The legacy Asia-Pacific (Primus) data center can be identified through its IP address: 203.134.157.114. To find out if your site is located at this IP, you can use a domain lookup service like ip-lookup.net. Searching for your domain name will return the IP address associated with the domain. If the IP is 203.134.157.114, than your site is hosted on the Asia-Pacific data center and will be migrated.
What will happen during the upgrade?
All Customers (on any data center): During the 6 hour maintenance window, you will experience the following:
- All user management functions will be unavailable (i.e. create user, edit user, delete user)
- DNS management tools will be unavailable
- Setting a start page will not work
- Clicking "Webmail" from the Admin Console will not work
- Users will receive an error upon logout
- Users may experience intermittent logouts as session tokens expire
Sites hosted on legacy Asia-Pacific data center: In addition to the above, all sites hosted on legacy data center will be offline for the maintenance window of 6 hours. There will be no front-end pages being served or Admin Console access
Once the migration is completed, all sites will be fully functional with two exceptions:
- Search will be unavailable for up to 2 days for All sites hosted on Asia Pacific (legacy Sydney) data center
- FTP will be unavailable for Sites hosted on Asia Pacific (legacy Sydney) data center with internal DNS until DNS settings are updated.
Benefits of Maintenance
The new datacenter is built using high-end industry standard hardware and server technologies. The main business benefits include:
• Improved Reliability: with built-in hardware and software redundancy for all critical systems, the new datacenter prevents downtime caused by single system failures and enables customers to continue running their online business without disruption
• Increased performance: built using latest, state of the art hardware and server technologies, this new datacenter delivers higher performance and enables websites to load faster for a better customer experience
• Higher capacity: three times more capacity than currently available and built-in expansion capabilities will cover growing customer demand for traffic and space
Thank you for your co-operation.
Kind Regards,
